You have the desire to innovate in order to collaborate within your organization,
or learn to work better together?

Are you familiar with the unique and efficient methodology called LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®?

Given the increasing globalization and interconnections among teams, and because team members are often selected for their specific knowledge, the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology creates the optimal conditions, where individual contributions are equally welcome and appreciated, in order to find innovative and powerful solutions together when faced with complex team issues.

The goal is to foster shared, creative thinking through team building metaphors and symbols, organizational identities from stories, and individual experiences and ideas.

During the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® sessions, by playing with LEGO® bricks and pieces, the teams build metaphors that symbolize their thoughts and feelings, both individual and collective, concerning an issue to be resolved or a unique solution to be found together.

I. Reaping the benefits of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®

Conducting an LSP workshop means guaranteeing that 100% of the attendees are involved 100% of the time, and ensuring that all barriers are eliminated across organizational levels, cultures, and lines of business. The immediate impact of this total commitment during the workshop is the development of solutions to a complex issue using collective intelligence.

As such, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is a very effective process/methodology. Within a few hours or 2 days at most, a group or team succeeds in aligning towards a clear and shared direction, and committing with confidence to a single, joint action.

This alignment results in tangible deliverables: building a shared identity or vision, developing straightforward guiding principles to help people experience this shared identity and vision, and implementing emerging strategies.

The deployment is organized seamlessly, without using complicated planning charts to allocate responsibilities.

II. Leveraging individual and joint creativity

When building a solution with Legos®, the hand/brain combination leverages neural connections through creative thinking, feelings and the body (through the hand).

Many cognitive and emotional skills are involved, resulting in strong focus and retention.

Immersion in the game spurs creativity, and the physical 3D interplay with the imagination fosters the expression of resourcefulness. The 3D visualization enables the 360° perception of a situation, i.e. a different way of looking at things and the emergence of new, unconventional insights.

Following this, a debriefing of the creative process takes place. Indeed, the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® core process is based first on an individual experimentation, and is then shared with the team. All the attendees are involved. The solution is brought about iteratively. It is implemented in successive phases and trials, based on the meaning given by everyone’s contributions and the connections between all parties, until a collective, consistent and satisfactory outcome is reached.

Conclusion

Both playful and serious, the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® approach is a unique process designed to enhance the innovation and performance of groups and organizations by helping teams become more efficient through creativity, sharing and thinking.
